Abstract | In Lake Sarnen (Central Switzerland), tagged Coregonus sp. fingerlings were released. In the following years the recaptures were recorded in order to get information on growth, mortality and yield of whitefish in this lake. As recaptures are still coming in, only preliminary results are presented in this study. In fisheries management of lakes in Switzerland, coregonid fry are stocked extensively with the general goal of keeping commercial catches high. Since very little is known about the fate of the fish stocked, it is necessary to get some information on the stocking success of fry and fingerlings in order to optimize production costs. For the identification of tagged fingerlings in the catch of commercial fishermen years after release, the microtag-method was successfully used in this experiment. |
